Horizons Companies was launched in 1984, with the vision and vitality of 21-year-old Ohio State University photography graduate Don Lee. From humble beginnings, Horizons began a steady trajectory, taking on personnel and equipment to meet the needs of the company's expanding client base. In an effort to satisfy those clients' ever widening demands, Horizons' menu of services has grown to include virtually every conceivable discipline of modern media production.
Among the highlights along the way: converting both a 1920's-era movie house and a notorious millionaire's estate into state-of-the-art production campuses; creating and producing a long-running, award-winning television series on the history of Ohio State University football; producing tens-of-thousands of unique educational videos to use in classrooms throughout the country; and having worked with Bill Gates and Microsoft on a project that would eventually become wireless internet.
Throughout our history, Horizons has kept pace with the accelerating advancements in communications technologies, allowing clients to remain on the cutting edge and to shine for both their external and internal audiences.
Horizons Companies is a full-service media production firm meaning that they can conceive, create, execute, and deliver any – or every – component of the customer’s media message, and in most cases handle it entirely in-house under one roof.
On time. In budget. With a smile.
Horizons Companies is creative, comfortable, client-friendly, and consistent when it comes to meeting and exceeding their customers’ expectations. They are not the cheapest production house in the market, nor the priciest, but they do specialize in giving clients the greatest value for their budget – regardless of its size.
At Horizons, they will blue-sky, concept, develop, script, shoot, score, edit, animate, convert, compress, duplicate, and deliver the customer’s message in any media format, and for any delivery system. They’re fluent in all of the emergent technologies, from designing and programming iPod apps to social networking and HD, but haven’t forgotten the time-honored art of telling a story and crafting a message targeted for optimal results.
Whether communication needs are corporate, educational, retail, governmental, broadcast, or internet-based, Horizons Companies will make sure that the customers get the impact demanded at a manageable price.
You’ve heard the old saying, ‘nothing ventured, nothing gained’. So Horizons ventures, every chance they get. They enjoy pushing envelopes, eschewing convention, and reaching for the stars. In a business where creativity is king (and ever-changing technology is queen), they feel there’s no room for fence-sitters. Risk averse? Not Horizons. If the customer has an idea to explore – or a dream dangling just beyond their fingertips – they might find the environment Horizons offers to be ideal for hatching success.
Horizons realizes they've been blessed – by good clients, fantastic projects, and an enjoyable work environment. And they're honored to have the opportunity to support the communities in which they serve. Over its 25-year history, Horizons has lent financial, material, and in-kind support to dozens of worthwhile causes. Of course, they enjoy the warm-and-fuzzy feeling this gives, and they also know that it could just as easily be Horizons on the other end of that helping hand.
Horizons loves our planet. It's got air, water, sunlight – all the comforts of home (at least for now)and they’d like to keep it that way. They began recycling long before it was cool, and the rooftop solar grid at Horizons is the largest commercial installation (as of this writing) in Central Ohio. They are always looking for new ways to help save – and improve – this blue marble we call home.
Horizons believes in being comfortable and wants their clients to feel the same way. But while their attire may be casual, the workspace airy, and their attitudes fresh and fun, there's nothing lighthearted about their attention to detail. They will gladly go the extra mile, or two, or 10 for clients...in comfortable shoes.
